Introducing Sage Intacct Manufacturing and Distribution

One of the biggest stories coming out of Sage Transform 2022—the yearly event for Sage Intacct customers, partners, and industry experts—was the announcement of Sage Intacct Manufacturing and Distribution, which is expected to be available in the United States in mid-2023.

Let’s take a closer look at what the announcement means for existing and future Sage Intacct customers.

Expanding the Sage Intacct Portfolio

In one sense, nothing has changed: Sage Intacct remains the top cloud-based accounting and financial management software available. What’s new is that the solutions portfolio—which already included support for construction, real estate, and retail—is further expanding to include a purpose-built solution for manufacturers and distributors.

Until now, manufacturers and distributors have been slow to adopt cloud-native multi-tenancy solutions. That’s changing with the increasing need for anytime, anywhere access, as well as the maturity and reliability of solutions like this one from Sage Intacct.

Key Capabilities

Sage Intacct Manufacturing and Distribution is currently designed for mid-sized discrete manufacturers and distributors, enabling them to manage financials, planning, purchase, inventory, resources, and the entire distribution flow, from procurement of raw materials through to sales and distribution. Over time, the product scope is expected to expand to serve more types of manufacturers and distributors.

The general idea is for Sage Intacct to continue ensuring seamless general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bill, invoice, and journal integrations while adding exceptional manufacturing and distribution capabilities.

For manufacturers, the solution allows users to efficiently manage the production process’s design and all aspects of making and assembling products. For distributors, the new solution makes it possible to manage the entire sales cycle, simplify internal communications with a guided process, and manage and maintain inventory across the full lifecycle.

Differentiating features include controlled sourcing and distribution, advanced costing, and template management. One example of the exciting features is an intuitive, role-based user interface that greatly simplifies the user experience compared to traditional solutions. Users in different roles see only what they need to see, and are guided through interactions without overcomplicating them.
